FDG109 - Extending Subject Knowledge in ICT

Outcomes Content Scheme Assessment Resources

Graham Barnes has asked me to start a little earlier this week (March 25) - so hopefully we'll start at around 4:30 pm. For most of you mine will also be a short session - unfortunately I couldn't manage to get hold of a voting kit to show you ACTIVote, though for those who wanted to learn about creating web pages, then I've planned to do this after we finish the work on Control Technology.

A must read - the latest HMI report into ICT - see link on resources page.

Follow this link to see the levels of the work you looked at last week.

Comments on the QCA forms that were saved to my memory stick during the last session: Y1 LB - all correct;Vanessa, Shabnam & Lubna, the 4th row on yours should have read "Outcome" & "1e". Roushon & Najma, your first column was ok, but a couple of the units in the 2nd were wrong; Sandra & Shelley, you had mistakes in both columns - this link takes you to the correct answrs for Y5.

As this thought/suggestion only developed over the course of the first few tutorials today, I thought it fair to let all of you know (especially as it was Vic who laid the seeds of the idea last week): To meet the first module outcome (awareness of initiatives) - I originally suggested a mini essay describing giving info about one or more initiatives. After conversations in the first few tutorials I suggested another way of meeting this initiative:
still a mini essay - but wuth the question I posed in session 2 as the title (Why have national initiatives been needed to be promoted ICT in schools?) This would allow you to research reports from Ofsted & Becta about the effect of ICT investment - initiatives would be mentioned - but not described. Where possible students could also add in reflections about their own school's ICT investment.

Remember if you have any questions about or problems with the module you can get in touch with me by email: graham@GandLJDean.co.uk.
