Outcomes
By the end of the session you should:
- be aware of the the main commands in a turtle graphics package, and their effects

- have an understanding of "repeat" loops
- understand that procedures can be saved and edited
- be aware of strategies for the teaching of ICT to pupils with differing needs
- have visited websites which give advice and guidance on the teaching of ICT to pupils with differing needs
- be aware of how a standard computer may be adjusted to make software more accessible.
Making things happen
Logo or turtle graphics
Become familiar with Logo graphics commands (and use procedures), using Textease and/or MSW Logo.
A free version of Logo graphics software can be downloaded at home or school
from here -
right click over the Set up Kit - and select Save target as. Then double click on the
saved file and follow the on screen instructions.

A free resource which can also be used to introduce control is:Scratch,
a free application from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

- Changing some of the settings available through Start menu > Control panel can make life more simple
(e.g. changing size of pointer, speed of mouse, behaviour of keyboard)

Inclusive Technology,
who supply a large range of hardware & software; SEMERC, Widgit
and Crick, suppliers of software.
- Specialist software - eg OCR (optical character recognistion) to adapt materials for visually impaired.
