Leave the car park, turn left and left again round the Waterhead Hotel. Cross Lake Road and climb a few stone steps leading to a wooden footpath fingerpost. Walk up a steep path which takes you into Skelghyll Wood. Where the path meets another track, turn left, then after a few yards turn sharp right. The path is signposted Jenkin Crag. The track turns to the right just before crossing Stencher Beck, then bears left. | |

Look out for the diversion to the right of the track to the viewpoint over Windermere and towards fells on the other side of the lake. The path continues through the wood and then out on to the open fell. Walk past the farm at High Skelghyll then after about 150 yards take the footpath leading off to the right (signposted for Lowwood Hotel). The path leads down through fields and over stiles to emerge between the Lowwood Hotel buildings. Turn right along the road. Walk along the road for just less than half a mile. | |

Climb over a wooden stile on the left of the load and follow the footpath to the headland at Holme Crag. Continue along the path until it re-joins the road. turn left and follow the road back to the car park. |
