One of the beauties of "paid for" ebooks is that they can legally be used on more than one device (with Amazon Kindles a book can be used on 6 devices). Not only that - but there is free software that allows the books to be used on different devices ( download Kindle reader software for various different devices, tablets and PCs). It gets still better - there are lots and lots of free books out there: this page contains a list of free ebooks from Project Gutenberg along with links to sites which provide information on managing ebook readers in schools.

I've started this list with the books that I used to use when working with Year 4 and 5 children. I will gradually extend it - and maybe even (at some time in the future) organise it in alphabetical order of authors!
Where there is a choice of versions with and without illustration, I have linked to the illustrated version.
